Potty On Sleeve or Strap

Dogs Potty With It On

When they cant or it's getting potty on the sleeve

#1   Urine on Strap:  Misplacement of strap... The strap goes from the hip, to a belt loop on the underside of the harness, and then to other hip. Instructional video - 7:58 minutes into video (Hip Strap). This way there is no strap on the under-belly where dogs urinate.

#2   Poop on Sleeve:
Wag strap needs more slack which allows tail to lift higher up. In some cases the wag strap needs to be moved and anchored higher on the sleeve.  In this case use the wag straps would be used with the  belt loops that are under the sleeve, high up ...by the undertail-pad. This positioning makes it even easier for your dog to lift up the tail. With this positioning of the wag strap we like the other end of wag strap to be anchored underneath the harness with the belt loop there. Not over the hips (it might chafe thighs if it goes over the hips in this case).

#2.5  Try using the alternate pathway if dog CAN lift tail half way up and poop still gets on sleeve (step 8 on written intructions). This path has wag strap going over the tail, then both ends go between hind legs, and attach together under the chest where there's a belt loop.   Send us a photo for our help if issue continues!
Wag strap instructions don't include this alternate use of the belt loops high up and underneath the sleeve  The video instructions show the usual pathway at  8:44 minutes into the video.

#3 Dog refuses to  poop: It may be too tight under the tail, please feel under there to assure a gentle pressure (not overly tight).
Wag strap needs more slack in it:  If dogs suspect that they can't lift their tails high enough to not get poop on it they may refuse to go.   Give more slack in wag strap or take strap off just long enough for dogs to go potty.  If wag strap is too low on legs please see step 2 on this page. It explains how to have the wag strap fit higher on thighs.

#4  If wag strap is lower than mid-thigh it's too low: In some cases the wag strap needs to be anchored higher on the sleeve.  You can use belt-loops  located next to the undertail-pad, under the sleeve. To prevent inner thigh chaffing be sure to anchor the wag strap  underneath your dogs chest (there's a belt loop on the underside of the harness.  Not over the hips because it might chaffe thighs (in this case).
