Chewing Low on Sleeve

Your Dog Chewing Low on the Sleeve

Thanks for updating me about your pup. I’m so sorry you’re still dealing with this, chewing low on the sleeve can be a strong sign that your dog is experiencing pain or itching from the wound itself, and I want to help you both get through this toughest phase of healing.

You can text Julie, the owner of TailSaver, a photo of your dog wearing the TailSaver. Her number is +1 (331) 725-1098. She has a lot of experience with difficult cases like this and will be able to assess the setup, check if the wag strap is on properly, and guide you on how to get the best fit and protection.

Also, taping a pajama pant leg over the tail sleeve is a great idea, it adds a layer of protection while we address the source of the chewing. For wound care, we recommend Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Hydrogel or Liquid, applied 2–3 times daily, unless the wound looks necrotic (black in color).

Let us know how things go, and we’re here for you every step of the way.
