Tail Came Out, It Fell Off
Tail came out, It fell off
4 trouble shooting steps for tail coming out of sleeve or sleeve falling off
- The wag strap is too loose allowing the tail to lift high enough to lose needed tension underneath the tail. It should lift 45* to allow pup to go #2, but no higher than that.
- There is slack in the straps along dog's back connecting the sleeve to the harness. They are the main prevention of top of tail sleeve shifting off center on the dogs hips. Shifting on the hips leads to tail coming out. Gradually tighten the straps that are on opposite side of the way it shifted. a shit to the Right means you tighten the strap on the left a bit.
- .When the top of tail sleeve shifts off center on the hips the tail will come out. micro (tiny) adjustments to the straps that go from top of sleeve to the harness will make it stay centered on the hips. Remember to feel under the tail with your hand to assure that the pressure under there remains gentle and comfortable and to lock the straps to maintain those tiny adjustments.
- Our instructional video has the most critical steps listed in bold underneath the video, check those steps and also send us a photo of it on your pup if you'd like help troubleshooting. https://happytailsaver.com/pages/instructions-for-fit-and-adjustments
- It's hard to secure if it's too big along the rump.. if Tail sleeve covers more than 1/3 of your pups back. It loses tension when it is too big in that area. If it comes too far up the torso, towards the waistline.. Send us a photo ...We offer size exchanges, and if you're out of the USA we can tell you how to sew the undertail pad higher to fix that problem4. Harness may need to be pulled forward by tighteing neck straps and girth straps may be too loose. It must stay centered. Tighten neck straps to pull it forward and check that straps around ribs are securing the harness laterally. tug gently let and right to test this - it should stay centered.
